Joshua Tree National Park and its miles of desert to hike and explore has been a favorite among the ISOJI team. Aside from the amazing trails that sprawl across the desert landscape, Joshua Tree is also a favorite among rock climbing and bouldering enthusiasts! Whether you are a seasoned climber or just starting out, here are a few reasons why you should climb at Joshua Tree National Park:

1. You’ve never seen rocks like these — If you’re a fan of geomorphology, Joshua Tree is the place to go. Scenic spots for visitors include Arch Rock (which as you may have guessed, is shaped like an arch) and Skull Rock (creepy, but also fun to climb up on and to sit in the “eye sockets”). The sky’s the limit with what you can see across the vast landscape.
2. Break the routine! –  The park offers over 8,000 climbing routes for experienced climbers and newbies alike. If you’re looking for something a little different from your local climbing gym, try switching it up by taking it outside! The rocks are formed from monzogranite, which is easier to grip for climbers but can also be tough on the hands. Climbing at Joshua Tree is sure to provide a fun and unique challenge—just make sure to take the necessary precautions and safety checks before getting your climb on.

3. Fresh air and an incredible view — Along with wildlife habitat conservation, one of ISOJI’s goals is to promote an active lifestyle outdoors. Getting outside is no challenge, but taking the time to be aware of nature’s presence is what makes the trip truly worthwhile. Perhaps, climbing at Joshua Tree can inspire you to reach for new heights in all aspects of life.
4. Plenty of resources – Beginners won’t have to do it alone. In fact, there are tons of resources available to help you get started with rock climbing or bouldering at Joshua Tree. Climbing guides can be found online or bought at the park. There are many local climbing tours in the area as well.

So, get out there and happy climbing from us at ISOJI!
